My Story
Wendy always had a strong sense for adventure and traveling. She grew up on the beach and loved the sunshine! In her early 30’s she sold almost everything she owned and moved to the island of Guam to teach yoga and help open a new wellness center. What what supposed to be a 1 year journey, turned into 7 years of traveling to many countries around the world. Wendy also loved to surf and began teaching yoga to surfers and then began running and teaching yoga & surf retreats in Morocco, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Living this kind of lifestyle required being in the hot sun everyday. Needless to say, sunscreen was a must, especially for Wendy’s Norwegian skin. Wendy soon began to feel and see the negative side effects, from the chemicals, that sunscreens contained. Her skin began to suffer with breakouts, red spots and discoloration. Wendy began using local plant ingredients that were available in the countries where she was living to heal her skin as best as she could. She also began doing research and learning about the healing properties that plants contained and was so excited to find some that had SPF properties!
When Wendy moved back to the United States in 2016 she was able to buy these ingredients and make her own sunscreen. She used this exclusively on her face and saw results within days. “My skin felt moisturized all day long, I wasn’t getting sunburned, the breakouts were gone and my skin became the natural color that is should be!” Wow, Wendy thought to herself…I’m giving this to everyone I know!After being told that others were getting the same results and loving this sunscreen, Mystic Roots Creations was born. She made a couple more products and began selling them on Etsy and in a yoga studio in Breckenridge, Co. where she was teaching. This became a really fun and passionate side business for Wendy, and she loved it because she was able to help people with their skin and make some extra money too! More research, resulted in more products and more sales. In 2021 Wendy had a baby boy and made this her full time career. She is so excited to take this business world wide and educate people that healthy skin care does exist!
